HOLIDAYS! HOLIDAYS! HOLIDAYS!Week 9This is the last week of the school term! Our children have worked very hard andwill be taking a well deserved break! All the best for the holidays and have a very safe and enjoyable holiday! :) Week 8Maihi and Shane are off on holiday next week! We wish them a 'safe' holiday to America and Australia! We can't wait to see you and your families back in NZ afterthe September holidays! :)
Week 7Duffy Assembly this week. We had Mary Kippenberger and Peter Charlton-Jones visit our school this weekto present a variety of well-known stories with a series of twists using our staff and children as the main actors. A great assembly. We also had our Mainfreight representative. Week 5!!!Oh no! Whaea Lesa has not been posting any notices for a long time! We have been verybusy since our last notice. Most of our t-shirts are now finished and look pretty amazing!Our class 'logo' has been finished and is ready to be printed on our t-shirts.We are not going to post photos of our t-shirts until after we have finished them all! :) We have started posting comments and questions for our Tasmanian ePals since Week 3 andwe have joined Quadblogging Aotearoa. Quadblogging is where four classes with classblogs join together and spend one week looking at a class blog with their children. They areto comment on the content found in the class blog and how the class is using their blog.When that week is finished, another class becomes the focus and is the 'host' class blogreceiving comments and questions about how they use their class blog. The cycle keeps goinguntil all classes have had their turn. Room 7 are also going to interview Mrs Davey-Emms and Mrs Reid as part of our inquiry topic from Term 3.Mrs Davey-Emms is the Secretary for the E.D.I.T group who are doing wonderful things aroundEdgecumbe for Edgecumbe and Mrs Reid is on the Jubilee Committee for our school's 100thbirthday celebration in 2014!
Also, on Wednesday, our school starts the 'Milk in Schools' programme so all children who havereturned permission slips, will get a free box of milk to drink at school. Sorry, boxes of milkare not allowed to come home as all the empty milk cartons are returned to the milk plant. Yes we have had a very busy three weeks!
Week 2We will be starting our class logo mural this week as well as beginning to dyeour t-shirts. Hopefully we will iron on prints of the pictures we draw for ourt-shirts as well as our class mural (when it had been downsizing). Week 1*Welcome back to everyone! We have already had our first week and what a lovely sight to haveseen all our Room 7 children! I hope everyone had wonderful holidays...I have heard some of holiday stories already andwhat an exciting holiday some of our children have had!
Week 9*Thank you to all the parents that were able to spend a bit of your time withWhaea Lesa to discuss the progress of your children. I appreciate contacttime, especially when time is not always readily available in ourbusy lives. I am sorry if you were not able to make it to our interview times,but I am available almost always and you can book a time to see me when you can :)
I hope you all have a safe and relaxing weekend. If your child or children areplaying sports this weekend, lots of luck for successful games and to theparents who have children playing 'twilight games' this Friday at Taneatua,I look forward to seeing you there too!

Week 8...has come and gone!Reports have gone home and we are so close to the end of the term!Don't forget to get 'Parent request forms' in to the officeto have an interview with Whaea Lesa :) I look forward tomeeting with you all! :)
Week 7This week, our big focus is on completing our Story-Writing Sample #2 to help Whaea Lesa writeher reports (these are already finished but you never know...Whaea Lesa can still 'tweak' thewriting reports depending on how well Room 7 children can write these sample writings!). Another big focus is of course the Mid-Year Interim reports. These are in the 'check-it-and-fix-it' stage! Week 6Mr Jones has been taking the Middle to Senior school children for rugby skills each weekfor the past three weeks and they have been having a 'ball'!!! (Get it!?!) Anyway, click on 'Rugby with Mr Jones' under Term 2 to view some of our photos of what the children have been learning. Teachers have been busy at work on report-writing. Thesewill be coming out in the next couple of weeks.
Week 5:We have a sporting coach coming to Edgecumbe Primary School to take Middle to Seniorclasses for Rugby-Tag skills. He will take each class for three sessions and our firstsession is this week. Whaea Lesa will let our children know what day and when.
Week 4:
Week 3:Some of Room 7 children had the chance to participate in the sporting exchange betweenMatata Public School and Te Teko with the teams going to Matata to play Rippa Rugby and rugby,while the girls travelled to Te Teko to play netball. Unfortunately the teams that had gone to Matatahad returned very early as the fields were too muddy to play on! The girls were able to continue. Whaea Lesa has CRT release this Friday and Mrs Reid will be teaching Room 7 for the day.
Reports are due in the next few weeks so teachers are busy writing these.
Whaea Lesa has received two requests from classes who would like to communicate with usand become 'ePals'. Both the classes are the same grade and age as Room 7 children. One class is from Tasmania, Australia and the other class is from America. Whaea Lesa has emailed them andis now waiting to hear from them again.
Week 2:Next week, I hope to have first 'contact' with our 'Buddy Blog' or 'Blogger-Pal' Class from Putauaki.I have registered our class with the 'Living Heritage' website as part of our classroom Inquiry Study about 'Discovering Edgecumbe' (Our Local World) and I have also registered our classroom with ePals.com, a community of teachers and classrooms looking for other classrooms to communicate with from New Zealand and Internationally.
Week 1:We have started back at school and we have had an exciting end to the week with the Targa Rally.I hope Mum's and Grand-Mums all have a lovely Sunday for Mother's Day! Such an exciting week catching up with children after a long break.Term 2 will be another busy term.
Week 12:*On Thursday, the teachers swapped classes to read to different classes aroundthe school for 20 minutes. A great way to share favourite books and getto meet and mix with children from different classes. Whaea Lesa went to read to the children in Room 11 and Whaea Joellecame to read to children in Room 7.
*Also, this is the last week of what has been a very long term!The children and teachers are looking forward to some 'chilling out' time with their families!Whaea Lesa wishes everyone a very safe and relaxing time to all! Please have a wonderful time and I am looking forward to a new and refreshingTerm 2 start on Monday, May 6th!

Week 10:*Whaea Lesa has CRT release on Wednesday, so will be out of the classroom.*Mr Haimona will be choosing the Middle School touch rugby team toplay at Awakeri School in Week 11! Good luck!
